After 45 years of believing in the New Testament and 28 of them as an ordained Pentecostal minister, JB apprehended the Tanaj and founded Word from Vine as a Hebrew scriptures based devotional ministry, to shine a light on the Hebrew scriptures for life. JB no longer considers the New Testament tenable.

JB haled from Florida and has been ministering since his college days in the 1980s in the Washington D.C. area and later on while pursuing his graduate degrees. His ministry was to teach, counsel, help beyond gatherings and denominational walls and across life’s bridges; whether pastoring an assisted living facility, founding an online ministry to engage with people needing ministry on substance abuse, depression, suicide, faith, providing pastoral services to rural churches, serving on boards as clergy and as counsel, and established a community youth baseball ministry program. From ministering and teaching to advising, facilitating ministries, and engaging in apologetic discourses, JB sought to encourage others, share the word, and try and be what the Hebrew scriptures urges of us all ‘… you shall love your neighbor as yourself…’ [Lv. 19:18]. As JB has stated, ‘… From ministering and working in a secular world, it is my impression that an apathetic egoistic spiritual condition is permeating culture and society throughout the world.’ JB also notes that ironically the Hebrew scriptures reveal that there would be a future social mindset – we see it today in society – that upon hearing the ‘word’, would react by blessing themselves in their hearts saying ‘I shall have peace, even though I follow the dictates of my heart’ – as though the drunkard could be included with the sober. [Dt. 29:19] We are all living in the consequences of such a spiritual state. We easily tend to not be mindful of the consequences of how we all live.

JB seeks to share the Hebrew scriptures as a lens to life impacting our thinking, faith and culture through life’s path under God’s blessing, hopefully drawing us closer to God.

Apprehending the Tanakh brought an awareness that led to a change in life perspective. The lessons experienced and witnessed in others’ lives engendered an embrace of the Hebrew scriptures as a lens to life and the heartfelt belief in the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses. Baruch HaShem.
